Objetive:

WHOQOL assesses people’s quality of life, including aspects such as perceived health, social support, access to basic services or ease of performing tasks of daily living.

Methodology:

It consists of a questionnaire with items that can be answered by rating from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum) the frequency, importance or degree of satisfaction with aspects of the respondent’s life.

The WHO has published a short version of this tool (WHOQOL-BREF) with a total of 26 questions, which are also answered with ratings from 1 (minimum) to 5 (maximum).

Opportunities and limitations:

It can be used to evaluate variations in the quality of life between cultures, to compare subgroups in the same culture or to measure change over time in response to changes in the conditions or circumstances of life.

The full version provides a large amount of information, while the short version allows a more flexible, suitable alternative for certain cases.
