Format:
Guide
Target population:
Local administrations and citizen associations
Objetive:

Set of tools for the creation of quality urban environments.

Methodology:

This set of tools is presented in five large sections:

  • analysis and diagnostic tools,
  • community engagement tools,
  • awareness-raising tools,
  • planning and design tools and
  • deployment tools.

For each tool, there is a detailed explanation about what it is, what it is useful for and how it is implemented. References and examples are provided when the tool has been applied in a real project.

These include references to websites, articles and publications that describe the tool, the theory on which it is based, and examples related to its application.

Opportunities and limitations:

The kit in this guide includes a wide range of tools, which are generally used by different people involved in urban design. Although the list of tools is presented in five sections that reflect the phases of a project from start to finish, the guide can be consulted in a timely or partial way for specific phases or tools.

The examples and applicability are mainly focused on New Zealand or similar contexts.
