Prevention and control of Legionnaires' disease
According to Royal Decree 487/2022, and Decree 352/2004, Legionnaires' disease prevention and control requires local councils to carry out a series of activities:
- Updating and custody of the census of companies with cooling towers and evaporative condensers.
- Collaborate in the inspectorate of facilities capable of transmitting legionella collected in Annex I. Perform the inspectorate function of low-risk facilities: Humectators, ornamental sources, urban sprinkling irrigation systems, outdoor aerosol cooling elements, firewater systems, indoor building water systems not provided for in Article 2.2c. of Decree 352/2004 and other appliances that accumulate water and can produce aerosols.
- Implantation of legionella prevention and control (PPCL) and health programmes against legionella (PSL) in their facilities.
